Ask anyone who has built a study from scratch what the hardest part is, and you'll often hear the same answer: the blank page. You know the text. You know your group. But turning that into a well-shaped set of lessons and questions — the kind that spark real conversation — takes time and a certain creative momentum that's hard to summon on a busy week.

What StudyBot is

StudyBot is the AI-powered assistant built into BookFellows. You describe the study you have in mind — in plain English — and StudyBot drafts a complete first version for you: lessons, thoughtful discussion questions, and even a custom cover image.

It's not a replacement for you. Think of it as a co-author for the first draft — the collaborator who breaks the blank-page paralysis so you can spend your energy on what you do best: refining, adding your own insight, and shaping the study for the specific people who'll walk through it.

StudyBot is experimental, and we're honest about that. It's genuinely useful today, and it's getting better — but every draft is a starting point for your judgment, not a finished product to release unread.

How it works

Creating a study with StudyBot follows a simple rhythm:

1. Describe your study. Tell StudyBot the concept, the target audience, and any preferences — the tone, the length, the angle you want to take. A sentence or two is enough to begin; more detail gives you a closer first draft.
2. Let it draft. StudyBot generates a structured first version — lessons broken into sections, with discussion questions for each — plus a cover image rendered in a style you specify.
3. Review and refine. Everything it produces drops straight into the BookFellows editor as an unsaved draft. Read it closely, edit freely, reorder lessons, rewrite questions, swap the image — nothing is locked in.
4. Make it yours, then release. Once it reflects your voice and your intent, save it and release it to your groups or classes like any other study.

You're in the driver's seat the whole way through. StudyBot moves the starting line forward; the direction is always yours.

Where it shines

StudyBot is especially handy when you want to:

• Get unstuck fast. Turn "a four-week study on the book of Ruth for a women's small group" into a real outline you can react to and improve.
• Generate discussion questions. Even if you've written the lessons yourself, StudyBot can suggest questions that open up a passage from angles you might not have considered.
• Create a cover image. Describe the style you want and StudyBot produces custom artwork — no design tools or stock-photo hunting required.
• Explore an idea. Not sure a topic will hold four sessions? Draft it in a couple of minutes and see how it takes shape before you commit.

Using it well

A few things worth keeping in mind, because good studies deserve care:

• Always read what it writes. StudyBot is a language model, and language models can get details wrong. Check any Scripture references, quotations, and facts against the source text before you release a study.
• Bring your own insight. The best results come from treating StudyBot's draft as raw material. Your knowledge of the text — and of your group — is what turns a competent draft into a study people remember.
• Iterate. If the first draft isn't quite right, sharpen your description and try again, or edit directly. Small nudges in what you ask for lead to noticeably better drafts.

Built in, and free

StudyBot isn't an add-on or a premium tier. It's included with BookFellows at no cost, right alongside unlimited study creation, participation, and group membership. As with everything in this initial release, we're not enforcing usage limits today — though if you're generating a great deal, you may hear from us.
